“The 2016 Monolithos Rosé is an 80/20 blend of Agiorgitiko and Assyrtiko, pale salmon in color and sourced from vines 20-30 years of age at high altitudes. Solid in the mid-palate for its style and terroir (a lot of wines at 800 to 900 meters don't have that) and beautifully constructed, this dry and substantial pink has some of the aromatics of Agiorgitiko, muted a bit by the Assyrtiko, as well as the nice depth. It finishes well, with lingering red fruits and some tension, always dry, serious and understated in flavor. Some five hours later, it wasn't quite as dense, showing more of that high-altitude elegance and finesse, but it was still persistent, smoothly textured and very classy.
